This 'How-To' Video Takes A Surprisingly Deep Turn

This isn't your average video clickbait. How to Lose Weight in 4 Easy Steps, which first premiered at Sundance Film Festival in January, is now making the rounds online. Contrary to what most might think upon reading the title for the video, or even watching the first 20 seconds, it makes an abrupt turnaround and becomes a commentary on life, relationships, and self-acceptance.

The video, which has gained more than a million views on YouTube, was directed by Benjamin Berman. The first two steps in the video are fairly straightforward: No Beer and Portion Control. The third step, "Have Your Heart Broken," is where things get interesting.

After a year of exercising, eating right, and coming to terms with his breakup, the narrator reflects, "You think of all those miles you've run, those pounds you've lifted, and chicken you've eaten, and puddles you made, and it doesn't seem that bad. You realize that it's not about hitting a goal weight or lifting weights, it's about waiting, being patient, and trusting that life will slowly inch along and things will get better. After all, change takes time, and time is all it takes."

Step Four, for those who are curious and still haven't clicked on the video, is "No Fruit Juice."
