'Sesame Street' Promotes Healthy Snacking With 'Orange Is The New Black' Parody

Netflix's Orange Is the New Black is coming back with a new season on June 9, and it's not just fans of the show that are excited — Sesame Street is getting in on the hype too. The children's show recently uploaded a video to YouTube featuring a parody of the Netflix series that trades out the theme of women in prison for girls in school to focus on healthy snacking.

The parody, called "Orange Is the New Snack," features Piper Snackman as the newest student at Litchfield Academy. When cookies are being handed out by the snack monitor, Piper says she would prefer to eat an orange she brought from home. The other students are in such awe over the healthy snack that it's mistaken for a ball, and one character even pretends it's her boyfriend.

After offering oranges to the rest of the class, the snack monitor proclaims, "Orange is the new snack!"

According to Food & Wine, the parody initially debuted on HBO on January 30, 2016, but the clip was released on YouTube on June 5 in time for the show's new season.
