Paula Deen Tweets And Promptly Deletes Photo Of Her Son In Brownface

UPDATE: Paula Deen's team has responded to the situation by firing the social media manager responsible for the faux pas. "This photograph is from a Halloween episode of Paula's Best Dishes that aired in 2011," a statement sent to BuzzFeed News reads. "Paula immediately had the picture taken down as soon as she saw the post and apologizes to all who were offended. As such, Paula Deen Ventures has terminated their relationship with this social media manager."

Paula Deen has gotten herself mixed up in racial issues again. The Southern belle of the dinner bell just tweeted a comedic photo of herself posing as Lucille Ball's Lucy Ricardo and her son as the famous comedic redhead's husband with the caption, "Lucyyyyyyy! You got a lot of esplainin' to do! #TransformationTuesday @BobbyDeen."The kicker? Her son Bobby Deen, who was dressed as Lucy's on-screen and off-screen husband, Desi Arnaz (aka Ricky Ricardo), was wearing brownface to portray the Latino actor.

Deen — whose son is sporting a heavy spray tan in the photo, allegedly to look more Hispanic — immediately received backlash for the seemingly racially insensitive photo. The tweet has since been deleted.

This is not the first time Paula Deen has gotten in trouble for issues surrounding race. In 2013, transcripts were released showing the famous butter-loving TV personality using the N-word and making racist jokes. Since her fall from grace, during which she was sued and dropped from the Food Network, Deen has been making a comeback, starting with the launch of her own digital network. Her son Bobby Deen has also made his mark as a TV food personality in his own right: he hosts the Food Network show Southern Fried Road Trip with his brother, Jamie.

The Daily Meal has contacted Food Network for comment.
