Fire Damages Portland Restaurant Owned By Snoop Dogg's Uncle

Snoop Dogg may have his own cooking show with Martha Stewart on VH1 called Martha and Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party, but he's not the only one in the family in the food business. Snoop Dogg's uncle, Reo Varnado, is the owner of Reo's Ribs in Portland, Oregon, which caught fire early Monday morning. According to KOIN 6 News, firefighters said there was extensive damage to the restaurant, which has since been closed indefinitely.

The fire was reported at 3:30 a.m. when the 911 caller said there were flames coming from the building and windows. When the fire occurred, Varnado was in Los Angeles filming for an appearance on Snoop Dogg's cooking show, according to Eater, but took to Facebook to share a video saying he thinks racism is the cause for the vandalism.

"You put your whole heart and soul into something that you like in life, that you love, and people try to come and take it away from you," Varnado said in the video.

According to Myra Girod, co-owner of the restaurant, they plan to re-open as soon as they can.

"It's all boarded up, and completely damaged," Girod told Willamette Week. "We definitely want to stay in business. We just don't know how we're gonna do it."
