Former White House Chef, Nutrition Advisor Sam Kass Appointed NBC News Senior Food Analyst

Sam Kass, the former White House chef and senior advisor for President Obama's nutrition policy, has been named the senior food analyst for NBC News, a role he will take on beginning Thursday, July 30.

Kass, who spent six years in the Obama administration as a close advisor and personal chef to the first family, announced in December of last year that he would step down from his post in order to move to New York to live with his wife, Alex Wagner, whom he married last August.

In his new role, Kass will join the same network as his wife, who is an anchor for MSNBC.

As senior food analyst, Kass is expected to cover topics ranging from nutrition policy to healthy eating and wellness, and will report "for all platforms of NBC News including Today, NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, and Today Food, where he will write a monthly digital column."
