We Invented An Oreo Flavor And Got To Try It: Here's What Happened

Have you ever eaten one of Oreo's crazy limited-edition flavors — like watermelon, chocolate cupcake or s'mores — and thought you could do better? Well, now you can try. Oreo is calling on fans to propose their own flavors via social media with the hashtag #MyOreoCreation. Lucky winners will get their flavor delivered to their home (courtesy of an adorable remote-control Oreo delivery robot), and even luckier winners will see their flavors in stores, along with a cool $500,000.

The Daily Meal staff got to invent an Oreo flavor and see it brought to life. First we submitted a bunch of wild ideas like margarita, Mississippi mud pie (which is actually already a thing!), pomegranate, and avocado crème. Then, a few weeks later, our personalized flavor arrived: Chocolate-covered pretzel. Unfortunately our ingenious creation won't be hitting stores anytime soon.

Here is our thorough product review:

"It smells like pretzels way more than it tastes like pretzels!"

"It tastes very chocolate-y, which I like, but the pretzel part is more like nuts."

"I'm getting a Nutter Butter taste with what's supposed to be the pretzel part."

"I thought this was chocolate peanut butter at first!"

"I would definitely buy these."

It may be difficult to translate the taste of a salty pretzel into a chocolate sandwich crème, but we think Oreo and parent company Mondelēz International did a pretty great job, all things considered.
