This Sushi Restaurant Stuffed A Giant Fortune Cookie With Chocolate Mousse And It's Glorious

Fortune cookies are pretty much the water crackers of the cookie world: They're predictable and bland, but you eat them anyway. Well, fortunately, one new izakaya restaurant has introduced a fortune cookie remix that's not your average post-Chinese food disappointing dessert.

The Rocky Road to a Big Fortune fortune cookie is one of the most popular desserts at the newly opened Izi — a Japanese izakaya restaurant in Times Square — and it's easy to see why. The oversized fortune cookie big enough to feed at least two is dipped in chocolate and covered in toasted marshmallows, peanuts, and peanut butter cups. It's also stuffed with white and dark chocolate mousse. The cookie was decadent and much more tempting than your standard fortune cookie, even though the marshmallows were a bit stale.

"We wanted to offer a dessert that was fun and over-the-top, so we decided to offer these giant, sharable fortune cookies for two," said chef Sam Hazen. "The first one we're doing is rocky road... We're also working on others in flavors like Almond Joy and rainbow, so stay tuned!"

And yes, each fortune cookie does come with a fortune on the side. Ours said, "Is that a dumpling, or are you just happy sashimi?"
