Shake Shack To Give Away Free Burgers In The Wake Of Disappointing Sales

Shake Shack, the king of the gourmet fast-casual burger, is giving out free burgers in celebration of the opening of its 100th store at Boston's Seaport.

On Tuesday this week, each stand-alone Shake Shack (i.e. no airports, stadiums, or concert arenas) will be giving out at least 100 free burgers starting at 10:30 a.m. This monumental giveaway comes on the heels of disappointing in-store sales and weak stock that fell 8 percent over the past quarter.

"From our first-ever Shack in Madison Square Park twelve years ago, to so many incredible places in between, opening our 100th Shack at Boston Seaport is an epic milestone for us," CEO Randy Garutti said in a statement.

Shake Shack location No. 101 will open Aug. 18 at the King of Prussia Mall in Pennsylvania — the chain's second King of Prussia location.

We imagine that the lines for free burgers will be incredibly lengthy tomorrow, so if you're in the mood for free Shake Shack, head there early.
