Popular NYC Ramen Restaurant To Host A Marvel Comics-Inspired Pop-Up

The famously long lines at NYC's beloved ramen eatery, Ippudo, are about to get even longer, at least on Thursday and Friday. The chain is hosting an official Marvel Comics pop-up at its Westside location (321 W 51st Street) for two days only, beginning at 5 p.m.

An Instagram post by Yusuke Nakamura, Ippudo's New York operations manager, says an 'Avengers Interactive Ramen' created by chef Fumihiro Kanegae will be served. Kanegae says, "As one of Marvel's biggest fans, I could not be more excited to honor Marvel's Avengers in the form of ramen. I've had to carefully consider each character's powers and personalities in order to select the appropriate ingredients to blend in our bowls." He adds, "Now if only Marvel will lend me Iron Man's armor to wear while cooking both nights!"

The pop-up will be open to the public, however only 40 bowls of the special ramen will be served per day, and no reservations will be accepted. Lucky fans who attend the event will also receive a commemorative T-shirt designed by artist Matthew Waite. Additionally, the ramen will be served with beverages selected by Chizuko Niikawa-Helton of Sake Discoveries.

"Everyone here at Marvel is thrilled that we're able to collaborate with Ippudo on this unique event, one that spotlights the Marvel heroes in a way we've never seen before," says Marvel's Senior Vice President of Creative and Creator Development, C.B. Cebulski. "This special bowl of ramen that Kanegae-san has created is not only work of art in its own right, it's truly tasty too!"
