This Pizzeria Made Its Bathrooms Unisex To Help Out Single Parents And LGBTQ People

Juli Ghazi, the owner of Pure Pizza, is being applauded for taking a stand for the LGBTQ and single-parent communities within her customer base. The Charlotte, North Carolina, pizzeria is making headlines after making its bathroom unisex. Plenty of restaurants have unisex bathrooms but it's the sign on the door of the restroom that has most people giving Ghazi a standing ovation, and prompted a Facebook post that has been shared hundreds of times:

"We have a UniSex bathroom because sometimes gender specific toilets put others into uncomfortable situations. And since we have a lot of our friends coming to see us, we wanted to provide a place for our friends who are:

Single Dads with daughters

Single Moms with sons

Parents with disabled children

Those in the LGBTQ community

Adults with aging parents who may be mentally/physically disabled"

"I knew when we were opening the location that it was something I wanted to do," Ghazi told blogger Matt Comer. "Plaza Midwood is the kind of neighborhood that embraces this kind of thing."

Ghazi also says that she has never seen a customer harassed for using the gender-neutral restroom and that overall it has been a very positive experience.

The Charlotte City Council will vote in February whether or not to pass LGBT-inclusive non-discrimination protections, which Ghazi hopes and prays will go through.
