New York Botanical Garden Debuts New Food And Drink Program In Tandem With Frida Kahlo Exhibit

On Saturday, May 16, the New York Botanical Garden will debut a new food and beverage program from Starr Events, the events planning portion of Starr Restaurants run by James Beard Award-nominated restaurateur Stephen Starr.

The menu is set to run in conjunction with the garden's new exhibit featuring the works of Frida Kahlo, the Mexican artist who's "having a moment."

The new food program will include a "special prix fixe menu, taco truck, and pop-up cantina."

The prix fixe menu, from executive chef Julian Alonzo, will be available until November 1 at the garden's new full-service restaurant Hudson Garden Grill, and includes entrees like Veracruzano red snapper with tomatoes, bell peppers, capers, olives, chili, and cilantro rice; and chile relleno — a Oaxaca cheese-stuffed poblano chile with tomato guajillo broth, Mexican rice, and refried beans.

La Cantina and La Casa Azul Tacos will also feature Mexican fare inspired by Kahlo.

On select nights, the gardens will host Frida Al Fresco Evenings, during which guests are invited to "celebrate the life and times of Kahlo under the stars with live music, performances, cocktails, and delicious Mexican fare."
