New Orleans Chef Alon Shaya Is In New York City For A 2-Day Pop-Up This Weekend

Alon Shaya, the Israeli chef who is this year's James Beard Award Winner for "Best Chef: South," is in New York City this weekend, September 25 and 26, for a popup of Shaya, his restaurant in New Orleans, to be be located at Emporio in Little Italy at 231 Mott Street.

Shaya's pop-up is the latest installment in the "flash restaurant" series from Resy, the mobile app for restaurant reservations.

The menu, taken directly from Shaya, will feature dishes like charred okra with saffron vinaigrette; paddlefish caviar with shallots; "my grandmother's spread of tomatoes, eggplants, and peppers;" halloumi with chanterelle mushrooms and mulberries; falafel; lamb shanks; and roasted cauliflower with whipped feta and black cumin — among other dishes.

There will be four seatings on Friday and Saturday, every hour between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Reservations — which are all-inclusive and will feature a four-course meal and signature cocktails — range from $75 per person for the earliest seating, to $125 for primetime.
