In A New Bizarre Drug Trend, People Are Snorting Chocolate To Get High

We've heard that chocolate makes you happy, but this is taking it to a whole new (and bizarre) level. Apparently, the latest "drug" craze in Europe's nightclub scene is snorting lines of raw cocoa, which, according to The Daily Mail, can relax the user and give her or him a temporary burst of endorphins. It also contains magnesium, which can relax the muscles. It can be consumed in powder, pill, or liquid form, and it's totally legal.

There have even been events dedicated to this new brand of club drug, overriding previous obsessions with ecstasy, molly, and cocaine. The concept has even taken off in the culinary scene. Belgian chocolatier Dominique Persoone even made a device that makes snorting chocolate easier. Fat Duck chef Heston Blumenthal has served a mix of Peruvian cocoa powder mixed with raspberry, ginger, and mint for his customers to snort.

"It's like a smooth, sensual hug in a cup," said Ruby May, a party organizer for U.K.-based dance party Lucid. She does not allow alcohol at her events, but instead relies on her own version of a chocolate mixture, mixed with honey, agave syrup, and cinnamon, according to The Independent.
