Michelin-Starred Takashi Restaurant To Close In December

James Beard Award-winning chef Takashi Yagihashi announced that he will be closing his Michelin-starred Chicago restaurant, Takashi, on December 31. Takashi confirmed that the reason behind the closing is that he wants to explore the next chapter in his culinary career.

"I'm honored by the support we have received over the years. Chicago, and especially the Bucktown neighborhood, has been incredibly good to us. While the restaurant has afforded me many opportunities and cherished guests, it is time that I explore the next chapter in my career," Yagihashi said in a press release.

Since the restaurant opened in 2007, the French-American restaurant with notable Japanese influences has received many accolades, including a Michelin star in 2010 (and a repeat star every year since), three-star rating from Chicago Magazine, and a spot on Esquire's 10 Best New Restaurants list in 2008. Beginning in December, as a farewell, guests can experience an Imperial 7 menu, which will highlight some of Takashi's best-known dishes over the years.

"I want to thank our team and diners, who have become part of our extended family, for the great memories over the past seven years," Yagihashi concluded. "We look forward to continuing to serve our guests far into the future."James Beard Award-winning chef Takashi Yagihashi announced that he will be closing his Michelin-starred Chicago restaurant, Takashi, on December 31.
