McDonald's Texas-Only Burger Features Texas Toast

First there were Gilroy Garlic Fries in San Francisco, then lobster rolls in the East Coast. Now, Texas has an exclusive McDonald's burger on its menu: the Lone Star Stack.

The Lone Star Stack is made with two all-beef patties, applewood-smoked bacon, American and white cheddar cheese, a sweet onion barbecue sauce, pickles, and grilled onions, all between two slices of Texas toast.

The burger won out over more than 25,000 entries in a crowd-sourced contest, with over 200,000 votes cast on http://mcdburgershowdown.com/. Many of the entries were "spicy, large, and, of course, loaded with bacon," reports Brand Eating.

The other finalists included the Lone Star Bronc (two all-beef patties, American and pepper jack cheese, grilled onions, pickles, applewood-smoked bacon, shredded lettuce, and sweet onion barbecue sauce), the DobleTXMeet (two-all beef patties, Swiss cheese, grilled mushrooms and onions, applewood-smoked bacon, herb seasoning, and both chipotle and regular ketchup), the McSqually (two quarter-pound beef patties, American cheese, applewood-smoked bacon and Big Mac sauce), and the Gourd (shredded lettuce, applewood-smoked bacon, guacamole, quarter-pound beef patty, American cheese and barbecue sauce).

The Lone Star Stack is available through August 28, 2016 at participating Texas locations. Prices vary by location.
