Mario Batali And Joe Bastianich Are Opening Another Restaurant, And This One Is A Hotel Trattoria

After opening several restaurants, including the Eataly empire, Del Posto, and Babbo, celebrity chef icons and business partners Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich are adding another restaurant to their hospitality group: La Sirena.

Last year, we reported that the dynamic duo would be taking over the cuisine program at the Maritime Hotel in Chelsea, and now we have more details. According to The New York Times fall restaurant preview, the restaurant will be a hybrid trattoria with spacious indoor-outdoor seating for 250. Chef  Josh Laurano (Lupa Osteria Romana) will be the executive chef behind the swinging doors.

Expect classic Italian dishes like pasta, veal scallopini, and steaks as well as "fried and roasted tidbits." The restaurant will also feature a Sunday brunch that evokes the spirit of Little Italy.

"I'm so excited and a little bit nervous," Batali told The New York Times. "It's a new world out there, with lots of younger groups coming along."
