Kraft Recalls American And White American Singles, Says Plastic Wrapper Is A Choking Hazard

Hold off on making grilled cheeses or cheeseburgers if you use Kraft Singles.

Kraft is recalling 36,000 cases of Singles varieties, saying that the packaging of the individually wrapped slices presents a choking hazard. The press release, from July 31, states that some of the plastic may not fully be removed once the wrapper has been opened.

The cheeses affected by the recall have a Best When Used By Date of 29 DEC 15 through 04 JAN 16 and are packaged in 3-pound and 4-pound sizes. The Manufacturing Code is S54 or S55.

There have been 10 complaints from consumers about these cheeses and three reports of people choking. The 36,000 cases have been shipped to the United States, Puerto Rico, and Grand Cayman. Customers will receive a full refund or exchange when they return the cheese.

"We deeply regret this situation and apologize to any consumers we have disappointed," Kraft said in the press release.
