Have We Gone Too Far? Nabisco To Release Swedish Fish Oreos

Oreo is not known to shy away from bold, out-there flavors. There were cookie varieties that worked, like s'mores and Hostess Cupcake, and those that flopped, like watermelon or green tea. But the newest Oreo variety is guaranteed to raise some eyebrows: Swedish Fish. That's right: Those sweet cherry-flavored gummy candies are somehow translated into red, cherry-flavored Oreo crème.

Like many of the other odd flavors, these new Oreos are making a limited appearance and will only be available at Kroger grocery stores.

"We know that consumers enjoy variety when it comes to snacking so we create all of our limited-edition flavors to provide surprising new twists people know and love and on occasion, create unexpected and unique flavor combinations that people may never have thought were possible, including our latest from the Wonder Vault, Swedish Fish Flavored Creme Oreo Cookies," an Oreo spokesperson said in a statement.

But how do these Oreos stack up? Initial reviews are mixed. They taste like cough syrup, according to Thrillist, while the Impulsive Buy laments the "Play Dough-like texture" but marvels that it tastes very similar to the iconic fish-shaped candy.
