François Payard To Debut A Macaron Donut At This Year's Macaron Day

March 20 marks the long-awaited first day of spring, and the return of Macaron Day in New York City. French pastry chef François Payard, who has organized Macaron Day for the past six years, is introducing a macaron donut for this year's celebration: A strawberries and cream macaron donut, with more flavors to come.

For Macaron Day, participating bakeries will be handing out one free macaron per person, but participants are encouraged to purchase additional macarons on their own as a portion of the day's macaron sales will be donated to City Harvest.

Participating bakeries include La Maison Du Chocolate, Macaron Café, Dana's Bakery, Spot Dessert Bar, and chef Payard's NYC locations. A full list of participating bakeries can be found on the Macaron Day website. Limited quantities of macarons will be distributed at each location from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 20.
