Could This Magical Salami Be The Solution To Your Hangover Woes?

When you have a pounding headache and dry mouth the morning after, you'll try just about everything, from downing extra-strong coffee to taking an ice-cold shower. But have you ever thought about eating salami? Not just any salami, but a cured meat specifically designed to cure hangovers?Serious Pig, a meat business based in London have developed what they are dubbing, "the world's first hangover-preventing meat treat," and claims to stop hangover symptoms before they start.

The snack, which resembles salami or beef jerky, "is high in protein and contains healthy doses of chilli and ginger, which experts agree help ease symptoms associated with hangovers," according to Serious Pig's press statement. Ginger, according to the company's own expert, food nutritionist Angela Dowden, is often used to prevent nausea, while chile is thought to release levels endorphins throughout the body.

"Nibbling on high quality meat protein at the same time as drinking is a really good idea as it's rich in the amino acids you need to make neurotransmitters (messengers that transmit signals throughout the body)," Dowden said. "Alcohol interferes with the levels of these neurotransmitters, which is one of the reasons we can feel bad after overindulging."
