After a wave of black burger buns made with squid ink became popular in Asia, Burger King is introducing a colorful burger bun to its American customers, and this one’s red and angry.

The Angriest Whopper bun is baked in hot sauce, and made with “flame-grilled beef piled high with thick-cut bacon, American cheese, iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, crispy onion petals, jalapeños, creamy mayonnaise, and spicy angry sauce.”

The limited-edition menu item will be available at participating Burger King restaurants with prices ranging from $5.49 to $7.49. It seems like a spicy upgrade from the previous Angry Whopper, which came with hot sauce on a regular sesame seed bun.

The announcement comes months after the A1 steak sauce-infused black bun burger was released as a limited-edition menu item for Halloween.

You can see the enticing preview — where close-up images of the firetruck-red bun are interspersed with action shots of volcanic eruptions — on Ad Age.
