The meal kit company offers pre-portioned ingredients to minimize food waste.

On Thursday, Blue Apron partnered with Fox’s MasterChef Junior for a “Mystery Box Challenge” for the kids culinary competition. During the episode, each contestant had 45 minutes to create a dinner recipe with the Blue Apron Family Plan box using 10 to 12 ingredients from the meal kit company and the MasterChef Junior pantry, according to the press release.

The winner of the challenge was Justise Mayberry of Georgia who cooked up pan-seared salmon. Mayberry is also expected to have her recipe featured in an upcoming Blue Apron Family Plan menu.

According to Blue Apron, the partnership made sense for the show to further emphasize the importance of spending quality time with family, especially when cooking.
