B&H Dairy Finally Reopening After Devastating East Village Explosion

After a devastating gas explosion and resulting fire wiped out several apartment buildings and local restaurants on Second Avenue in the East Village this March, the affected restaurants are finally starting to get back in the kitchen.

We announced earlier this summer that Pommes Frites (which had been destroyed in the fire) launched an IndieGoGo campaign to open this October.B&H Dairy, a kosher dairy restaurant and neighborhood staple, did the same. Now, after less than a month of crowdfunding on YouCaring, B&H Dairy has announced that it will reopen this Friday.

The Department of Buildings signed off on the opening last month, and Con Edison is turning on the gas tomorrow morning. If all goes well, B&H Dairy will open its doors Friday morning for breakfast starting at 7 a.m.

You can still donate to their You Caring crowdfunding campaign into next week. Thus far, the campaign has raised $24,600.
