This Artist Recreates Famous Paintings On Cakes

We've seen our fair share of over-the-top cakes, but this one takes the cake — literally.

Artist Maria A. Aristidou has been recreating famous paintings such as Vincent Van Gogh's The Starry Night and Edvard Munch's The Scream 1893 in a project called "Art on Cakes."

The project is for the Vienna Boutique Cake Gallery in Larnaca, Cyprus. Aristidou also recreated Pablo Picasso's Girl Before A Mirror on a three-tiered cake. You can view all of her mouthwatering creations on Instagram.

She baked the cakes with Vienna Boutique's chocolate cake recipe and covered them in sugar paste. Then, she decorated the cakes using edible paints.

Previously, Aristitdou made artwork using coffee on paper to depict personalities like Albert Einstein. There's no doubt that she has a knack for creating beautiful pieces of art using food and drink.

We're very impressed by her talent and wonder if she will preserve the cakes after they are displayed at Vienna Boutique's gallery.
