This 94-Year-Old McDonald’s Employee Just Celebrated 44 Years at the Company

The owner of the McDonald’s location where Loraine Maurer works just threw a party in her honor

Maurer says her job “is a reason to get up in the morning.”

Meet the McDonald’s employee that has stolen the hearts of her community. Loraine Maurer, 94, just celebrated 44 years as a McDonald’s employee in Evansville, Indiana, and the entire restaurant threw a party in her honor. More than four decades working behind the counter of a fast-food restaurant may sound tedious, but Maurer is well-known for her positive spirit and friendly relationships with her co-workers and regular customers.

Even though all four of her children are retired, Maurer still comes to work every day with a smile on her face. She no longer drives and instead gets rides to and from her shift with the help of co-workers or customers. She works the morning shifts and gets up at 3 a.m. just to arrive at 5 a.m. and start making oatmeal for customers “the Loraine way.” Her customers say that only she knows how to make McDonald’s oatmeal right.

“The people, the clientele, that’s why I stuck with it,” Maurer told People. “I know what goes on with them [her customers], I know some of their children. Some ask me to say a prayer and I do.”

Despite health warnings associated with processed fast-food, Maurer’s employers vouch that she eats a McDonald’s meal every day that she isn’t working, and her favorite has always been the Filet-O-Fish.

“After all these years, she remains committed to serving her customers with one of the most delightful smiles around. Loraine has a loyal following of customers and they look forward to having her take their orders when visiting McDonald’s,” Chip and Katie Kentworthy, the franchisees, said in a statement.
