Walmart Offends Everyone With A 9/11 Display Made Of Soda Cans

A 9/11 memorial display at a Florida Walmart is turning heads for all the wrong reasons. Twitter user Online_Shawn posted a picture of a display of Coca-Cola cans arranged to look like the Twin Towers and a giant American flag at the Panama City Beach store. Needless to say, the internet was not amused.

At first, Walmart defended the display, saying, "We hold this moment in our country's history in the highest regard, and there was nothing disrespectful intended by the display," but the display was eventually taken down on Wednesday amid the backlash. The design came from the Coca-Cola supplier and was approved by store management, according to Fox News.

"We sincerely apologize that anyone was offended or misunderstood its intent, and we have replaced the display," said the Coca-Cola bottler for the region. The display was originally meant to be a tribute to local firefighters.
