These Drinking Glasses Defy Gravity

Thanks to a successful Kickstarter, we'll be able to drink from levitating glasses — and you don't even need to be a wizard to do it.

Levitating CUP, "the world's first gravity-defying drinkware" according to the company, employs electromagnetic suspension in its cup and base sets, giving the illusion of a floating drink. At the time of publication, the company has raised $57,444, surpassing its $50,000 goal, with three days left in its campaign.

Though your morning cup of coffee will taste the same, the goal of the Levitating CUP is "to enhance the experience surrounding the beverage," making the drink "more novel and appealing to the mind."

The product is available in a wired and a chargeable, wireless version. With the wireless version, floating beverages can be transported from room to room. Currently, only black bases are available, with white and chrome bases to come if Levitating CUP meets its stretch goals. Levitating item options include cocktail, beer, coffee, and dessert cups, with a plate and pillow option if stretch goals are met.

This novelty won't come cheap: A wired base with a cup has a pre-order price of $229, and a wireless base with a cup costs $249.
