Teavana's New Line Of Teas Is Inspired By Hard Cider

Teavana's new teas are inspired by an unlikely beverage — hard ciders.

The Starbucks-owned tea shop is offering a complimentary tasting of the teas from September 12 through October 18.

"If you follow the wine industry, flights are a standard now," Naoko Tsunoda, director of tea development at Teavana, said in a press release. "For the first time, we will provide tea flights, so customers can taste and compare our three tea ciders that are light, medium and full-bodied in flavor."

The teas include poached pear cider, spiced apple cider, and mulled pomegranate cider flavors. None of the teas are alcoholic. The poached pear variety is made with a blend of citrus, lemongrass, and soft spices; spiced apple is a red rooibos tea with cinnamon, apple, chicory, plum, and red hibiscus; and mulled pomegranate is a blend of red and black berries, pomegranate, and spices.

Teavana is also offering a deal for the tea ciders: If you purchase one of the flavors, you will receive a 20 percent discount for use at any store. The tea flights and promotion are only offered at participating stores.
