Starbucks Introduces Dark Frappuccino That’s the Anti-Unicorn Drink

Starbucks has introduced the Midnight Mint Mocha Frappuccino that will pacify the unicorn haters out there

Cool, rebellious, and dark, just like your high school self always wanted to be.

The Unicorn Frappuccino, for all of its limited-edition glittery glory, caught a lot of flak for being too over-the-top. Thankfully, if you’re looking for a drink that matches your black, unicorn-shunning soul, Starbucks has released a Midnight Mint Mocha Frappuccino that is the antithesis to its colorful and cheerful predecessor.

The beverage is made with scoops of of extra-dark cocoa blended with coffee, milk, and ice, infused with something known as “cooling mint sugar crystals,” and intersected with a layer of whipped cream. The whole thing is topped off with the Frappuccino’s customary whipped cream dollop and a dusting of cocoa powder.

The best news is the Midnight Mint Mocha Frappuccino will be sticking around much longer than the short-lived Unicorn Frappuccino. Get yours starting May 2 through the end of the summer. You’ll also be able to try the S’Mores Frappuccino, which returns again this summer, as well as the bottled Dulce de Leche Frappuccino.

Not sure which to taste first? Take advantage of the annual “Frappuccino Happy Hour” special, affectionately known to fans as Frappy Hour, from May 5 through May 14, and purchase any Frappuccino for half-off from 3 to 6 p.m.
