'Hangry' Amtrak Passenger Gets Pizza Delivered On Stalled Train

On Sunday, May 14, an Amtrak train en route to Washington, D.C., from New York experienced delays, leaving passengers stalled on the tracks for hours. One passenger, Mitch Katz, was fed up with the wait and decided to make the trip more tolerable by ordering pizza from a local restaurant, Dom's Pizza in Newport, Delaware.

Katz tweeted a video of the pizza delivery man Jim Leary making his way to his train car, which has since been retweeted more than 1,500 times and received more than 3,900 likes.

Pizzeria owner Dominic Philingera told The Associated Press that Leary cut through a backyard, stepped down an embankment, and went over a ditch filled with water to complete his delivery.

Upon arrival at Katz's car, Leary was greeted by cheering passengers and left with $32 in tips, NBC Washington reported.

Throughout Leary's 17-year career as a pizza delivery man, he has delivered in 32 counties in 18 different states, but his delivery on Sunday to the stalled train was a first.
