Florida Is Getting An Indoor Shooting Range With A Restaurant That Serves Alcohol

A new indoor shooting range in Daytona Beach, Florida, will be complete with a connected restaurant that serves alcoholic beverages.

City commissioners approved a measure to open the gun range and restaurant, according to The Daytona Beach News-Journal. Some commissioners were concerned about whether it is safe to allow people to shoot guns while under the influence, but others said that there are gun ranges in Daytona Beach with "fewer safety precautions" than this new business.

Ron Perkinson and Edward Staudt will be co-owners of the shooting range. Perkinson told the News-Journal that he's "opening a restaurant, not a bar."

Patrons can either bring in their own guns or rent one on site, but guns are not allowed at the restaurant. A staff member will scan each person's driver's license when he or she orders an alcoholic drink. If he or she wants to go to the shooting range after drinking, a staff member will scan the license again and block the patron from the shooting range if he or she is under the influence of alcohol.

Customers who show up to the shooting range without eating or drinking at the restaurant will have to sign an affidavit before entering stating that they are not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Some city commissioners said this is a "unique opportunity" to attract tourists and new business.
