Coney Island Is Opening Its Own Brewery This Labor Day Weekend

The microbrewery scene is everywhere you look, and now Coney Island is getting on the action. Once the land of hot dogs and boardwalk food, the iconic Brooklyn neighborhood will now be home to its first-ever brewery.

Coney Island Brewery, featuring the popular beers of the Coney Island Brewing Company, will open its doors to the public this Labor Day weekend on Surf Avenue.

The brewing company is already known for beers named after iconic aspects of Coney culture, like the Mermaid Pilsner, Freaktoberfest, and the all-new Coney Island Hard Root Beer. When the brewery officially opens on September 4 at noon, it will initially only sell a few beers on tap before introducing the public to the all-new hard root beer. Hard root beer, as we've reported previously, is exploding in popularity these days.

The brewery will be open for customers to have a pint or take a tour Thursdays through Sundays, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
