Chicago Eatery And Bar Team Up To Make Beer From Corn Muffins

Honey Butter Fried Chicken has collaborated with Half Acre Beer Company to brew a birthday beer using corn muffins from the restaurant.

Chefs and co-owners Christine Cikowski and Josh Kulp worked with head brewer Stephan Mance at the Lincoln Avenue brewery, adding about 50 muffins to the beer mash.

The lager, christened Top Notch, will be available on draft at Honey Butter and at Half Acre's taproom July 11 to Sept. 14, Honey Butter's fourth birthday.

"The muffins were a very small bit (of the mash), percentage-wise," said Mance, "but it was less about the flavor and more about collaboration."
