You Can Be The Owner Of A Dolce & Gabbana Fridge For A Cool $30,000

Fashion meets function.

Milan-based fashion house Dolce & Gabbana joined forces with Italian appliance manufacturer SMEG and Sicilian artists hand-selected by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana to produce 100 one-of-a-kind refrigerators for a Frigoifero d'Arte — Refrigerator of Art — collection.

The SMEG FAB28 refrigerator serves as the canvas for the Sicilian artists, who were told to "create scenes and patterns inspired by elements of [Italy's] beloved marionette theater and the colorful, Gypsy-like decoration of traditional, Sicilian horse-pulled carts," reports the Los Angeles Times.

The collection will premiere at the international furniture fair, Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2016, in Milan, which runs from April 12 to 17. Each fridge costs €30,000 ($33,000 USD).

Past SMEG partnerships include a partnership with BMW in which the company created a refrigerator modeled after a Mini Cooper, and a Swarovski collaboration resulting in a crystal-encrusted fridge with a golden handle.
