Tips
- George Orwell used to drink here - note his photo above the bar watching all the suits during the week. (And the pies are famous.)
- There's been a business located at this gateway to a cobbled alleyway since 1730. But as a pub it had its heyday in the mid 20th century, when George Orwell was a regular.
- Look out for the wench in the top middle window, she's hot for business!!
- Great food upstairs. Not just pies any more - it's proper gastro pub, bordering on fine dining, reasonably priced. Produce from Cornwall.
- Apple pie the best
- The pies truly are delicious. Not to be missed.
- Pricey but yummy! (if you can get a table)
- Very small place. You need book a table two days before. Just for small group. Very good Pies even though overpriced.
- The Pie Room menu includes a unrivalled selection of eleven regular suet and standard pie options in addition to a number of daily specials. Extra mash sides are essential.
- Lamb and rosemary 5*
- Best pies in London
- Steak & Kidney Pie here is amazing. If it's your birthday try adding a few candles to your pie, my team did it for me and it brought me much happiness!
- Just order the steak and kidney pudding. Don't even look at the menu it'll lead you on.
- Seafarer bitter on tap - lovely
- The pies are good and I don't even like pies
- Sunday Karan Gokani (of Hoppers) brunch pop-up. Simply wonderful.
- Lunch food is excellent
- Great food!
- Mackerel was excellent. Nice crispy skin and perfectly tender underneath.
