  • Today, I was here to announce that the Museum will serve as the permanent home for Jim Henson's Muppets.
  • The Museum is the only cultural institution in the United States dedicated to the exploration and interpretation of film, television, and digital media.
  • Aside from exhibiting all types of media (such as fanzines, old cameras and arcade consoles), the facility also offers a 267-seat cinema with multiple weekend screenings.
  • After a three-year renovation and expansion that nearly doubled its previous size, the City-owned Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, Queens reopened on January 2011.
  • Museum offers FREE admission on Fridays from 4-8pm.
  • The collection of Star Wars and horror movie memorabillia is worth the trip.
  • make a video flipbook!
  • Under Construction presents hundreds of animated GIF files culled from millions of personal websites hosted by GeoCities, a service that provided free web hosting from 1994 until 2009
  • The C-3PO tape dispenser in the Behind the Screen exhibit was produced to promote The Empire Strikes Back; the company responsible also made mugs featuring the heads of other Star Wars characters.
  • The museum looks better than ever. The theater showcases classic movies, art films and more. Check the site for a schedule. The Jim Henson exhibition was extended through March 4, 2012.
  • Come here after 4pm on Fridays for Free Admission! The Jim Henson exhibit is very cool see it before it closes. Check their film-screening schedule its included in your admission.
  • Make sure you save some time to play some of the video games on the arcade systems and game consoles. Brought back some great memories...
  • One of my favorite museums in the city. Easy to see everything. Fun interactive exhibits. Nice space. Be sure to do the VoiceOver booth.
  • Fun fact: it was the need for plentiful, reliable sunlight that led the American film industry to move to LA from the east coast.
  • Really cool exhibitions, and free admission for NYU students!
  • Free from 4 till 8pm on Fri... A must see for the Muppets...
  • Free admission on Fridays from 4-8pm
  • For the movie enthusiast! A must see!
  • Free admission after 4PM on Friday and open until 8. You should be able to get through everything in 2-3 hours. Do it.
  • Great museum, it is small so don't think it is the type you will "get lost" in. The special exhibits are always great in my experience.
