Foursquare Tips

  • "If this place was as authentic as the name implies, you would eat your entire meal while someone screams at you that you're worthless." - Conan O'Brien
  • Watch out for the special sandwich ingredient at this New Orleans eatery. Its called debris. As seen on Travel Channels Man v. Food Nation.
  • This is the Katz's Deli of New Orleans. The line moves fast. Order some ham, fried chicken, po boys, and pecan pie. Really solid Bloody Marys too.
  • The Famous Ferdi Special is the best of a sub sandwich, a French dip - every sandwich youve ever loved in one. - Jeffrey Saad, United Tastes of America
  • The line is like airport security, but so much tastier.
  • Food was great, the service was horrible.
  • Look at the menu and know what you want before getting in the line. The line moves very fast so be ready. Plenty of space and tables in the back.
  • NOT that good! Cashier was rude and food is over priced and nothing special about it.
  • Scary first impression .. Long queue .. Coffee cup with chips out of it and my breakfast looks interesting to say the least .. . You only live once right??
  • Get something with debris in it. Soooo delicious!
  • Not worth the money or wait. The service at the register is offensive and condescending! I am so sorry it's my first time here, what an inconvenience that I asked if u have bacon. My bad.
  • The bread pudding is simply amazing. The turnip greens are the best I've ever had. If you get any seafood poboy, get tartar sauce on the side--SO GOOD. Good potato salad! Long line, but WELL WORTH IT!
  • Mother's Restaurant offers happy locals and visitors with the best comfort food in town since 1938. Start your day with a crawfish etoufee omelet, grits on the side, a coffee and a smile.
  • The best crawfish etoufe omlette ever!
  • 35 min wait in line from the end of the brick building out front of Mother's.
  • not worth the wait, overrated, dirty, rude employees
  • Perfect spot for out-of-towners staying downtown to grab a po-boy. Mother's is an institution!
  • Your "hips won't lie" after the best biscuit you'll have in your life. Enjoy them in moderation and try not to dream about them
  • sadly the turkey Ferdi was not that great and soggy. same with the bread pudding. :(
  • This shiz was freakin relish. My dads fave was the jambalaya and I loved the gumbo. Everything was great. Really fresh ingredients for the po boys and the spices were right on.
