McDonald’s Trying Angus ‘n’ Egg Burger

McDonald’s Australia on Wednesday will introduce two new Legends menu LTOs, timed to the upcoming opening of the Summer Olympics Games, the chain confirmed to BurgerBusiness.com.

McDonald’s doesn’t have a “breakfast burger” per se, but the new Aussie Angus ‘n’ Egg burger combines Angus beef, cooked egg, beetroot, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, bacon, barbecue sauce and Coon cheese (an Australian brand) on a sesame-seed bun.

The Aussie Chicken ‘n’ Pineapple partners grilled or crispy chicken, bacon, lettuce, pineapple, classic cheese and mayo on a chilli-chive bun. This is the first time McDonald’s Australia has combined chicken and pineapple.

Also joining the menu are new frozen drink flavors lime and passion fruit. The limited-time items will be offered for eight weeks from July 20.

McD_Aussie_Legends2016McDonald’s has some interesting new LTOs in Switzerland, too, including the Quinoa Curry Veggie Burger (below at left). The build is quinoa, ripe tomatoes, lettuce and “a sophisticated combination” of garlic and curry sauce.

For us carnivores there’s a Crispy McBacon burger with a pork patty, crispy bacon, spicy Cheddar, lettuce and fried onions.

BurgerBusiness.com broke the news in March that McDonald’s had filed a trademark application for the phrase “The Simpler the Better.” At that time the company wouldn’t say what its plans for the phrase were. We got a hint of what was to come in May.

Now McDonald’s USA has revamped its website and “The Simpler the Better” gets first-screen prominence. The phrase is used to convey nthe message “100% beef. No preservatives. No fillers. No additives.”

The site has a new navigation bar across the top, divided into Our Menu, About Our Food, Deals and Trending Now, plus a store locator and a search box.
