Matcha Green Tea Glaze

Matcha Green Tea Glaze

A few weeks ago I had an ‘Ice Cream For Dinner Party‘ and it was epic! Teresa from Florida Girl Cooks whipped up some amazing ice creams {Vanilla Bean, Pina Colada + Peaches & Cream}, and I was in charge of the toppings. When planning out the party I knew I wanted to include a topping that was out of the ordinary that you wouldn’t necessarily think of as an ice cream topping.

I’ve been on a green tea kick lately, making it warm and whipping up iced lattes as well. The flavor can be mellow and earthy but marries well with coconut and/or honey.

I started searching for ideas and came across this recipe which is a glaze for donuts but it sounded so good I figured I could tweak it and could work as an ice cream glaze as well.

We paired the green tea glaze with the Pina Colada ice cream and the mellow flavor of the green tea paired beautifully. It’s not a thick sauce it remains a glaze that you can pretty much use to top a cake, donuts or what I’ve been doing is using it as the green tea base of my iced lattes.
