Hanging out on rooftops is awesome. We know it, and you know it. Eating things like Mahogany glazed wings and white truffle pizza while lounging on a rooftop is…..you got it, extra awesome (you’re good at this game). To accomplish all three of these things, make your way to Bayside, Queens to a spot called the Bourbon Street Café. You’re welcome.
First things first, order alcohol and consume it. Lucky for you, the drink selection makes this easy. Order the Squared Fruit: a mixture of grapefruit vodka and crisp grapefruit beer. You might not think grapefruit and alcohol should mingle, but they should. If available, start with a dinner plate-sized German pretzel with beer cheese dipping sauce (yea, beer cheese, your two favorite food groups). Next, a sizzling platter of wings smothered in a dark sweet Mahogany sauce makes for a delicious appetizer. Things that sizzle are fun, and so are these. Once you see the white truffle pizza on the menu, it reigns supreme as your entrée of choice: a smooth trifecta of mozzarella, ricotta and parmesan cheese drizzled with rich white truffle oil (hey, keep it in your pants, you’re in public).
Bourbon Street Café’s amazing view of New York City makes it a great rooftop to visit. Plenty of tables scatter the spacious deck, and cushioned lounge areas nest in the corners. The glowing bar garners attention, and flat-screen televisions line the walls. During the cold months of the year, a massive heated tent makes it the perfect spot to escape the cold while still enjoying the awesome aspects of a rooftop lounge.
