Beautiful fresh fish (both prepared and not), oysters, clams, crabs, soft-shell crabs, caviar, and of course, lobster, are all on the offer at The Lobster Place in Chelsea Market, a favorite of tourists and locals alike. Said to be New York City’s largest purveyor of live lobster, The Lobster Place goes beyond retailing fresh seafood for you to take home to cook. There's also a menu that offers pretty decent soups (bread bowl available, yes), sandwiches, wraps, and platters (mostly shrimp and tuna). In 2013, The Lobster Place closed for remodeling to expand its seafood offerings and launch an eight-seat sushi bar (with sake and beer) and a raw bar called Cull & Pistol. — Arthur Bovino, 1/13/2013
