Foursquare Tips

  • imbibe in the Dark & Stormy predinner in the bar
  • The crab cakes are the best I've ever had. Anywhere. Ever.
  • Go to the lantern an order up a meatball sub!
  • Go eat in the bar; you can usually get a table without a reservation faster than you can in the main dining room
  • Owner Andrea Reusing spills the soothing secrets of her Icy Spicy Cucumber Soup, Indian Vegetable Stew with Tomato-Saffron Broth and Chickpea Dumplings. Click the link for a list of recipes.
  • Try the Spicy Orange / Pacific Rim martini. It's made with Thai chili-infused vodka. Definitely one of my favorite cocktails in Chapel Hill.
  • Check out the bar in the back of the restaurant. The urban, chic atmosphere is out of this world. The picture I added of the lanterns is from the bar.
  • Outstanding food and service! The bar is awesome, too!
  • The bar is magical, suspended in black lacquered space.
  • The bento box is excellent
  • Sit by the bar, enjoy some cocktails, and check out the awesome (and hot, damn!) bartender, Sarah! :-P
  • Imbibe Magazine found Lantern's Wine List to be one of the Best in the South in their March/April 2011 Southern Issue
  • Ask for a gold rush.
  • Amazing meal. Bento box was excellent.
  • Try the Drunken Angel if it's on the cocktail list. Gin, watermelon juice and a shiso salt rim...stupid good!
  • The lychee vodka is one of my favorites! This place reminds me of cozy NYC bars, love it!
  • Persimmon pudding is pretty much the most delicious thing ever.
  • Excellent bar in the back. Get a dark and stormy or bourbon cocktail.
  • Pimms Cocktail - Junebug
  • Check out the feature drink menu - get the Junebug for something refreshing or try the Strange Acquaintance for something more robustt
