  • The garden opened in 2000. Most of the plants featured in the garden are indigenous to China, but no plants were brought from China due to import bans. Some plants in the garden are 100 years old.
  • Did you know? Chinas 31,000 native plants, some of which can be found nowhere else on Earth, represent nearly 1/8th of the worlds total plant species.
  • Don't use your cellphone here!
  • Go to the tea house. Order a pot of Oolong. Breathe.
  • Nice little garden go early to avoid crowd
  • Just beautiful. Please silence your cell phone!
  • An oasis in the city.
  • Sip in tea house, breathe.
  • Walk around the small but beautiful grounds, have tea in the tea shop on site. Maybe the 3-tea wild growing tasting menu.
  • Serene. Love it! Make sure to go shake the container/pull the stick to get your fortune out of the drawer. - you can take the guided tour or wander.. I enjoyed doing a mix of both
  • Best place to spend a contemplative afternoon. Grab some tea (oolong is best) and enjoy the view.
  • Small, but if youre here during peony season, youll never forget it. Try a pot of tea in the teahouse while you admire their ability to make such a small, urban space feel secluded and calm.
  • Excellent information about Chinese gardens, & living. Beautiful, tranquil - even after living in the Far East, I've learned a lot here today.
  • Buy a membership because the tranquility is intoxicating a decent tea house but when you ask for a tea cold you shouldn't receive a mass market bottled tea
  • Knowledgeable tour guide! Lots of info to hear, as well as beautiful architecture, trees and flowers to see. I could stay for hours! Stop in and get a bite to eat or some tea too!
  • bring your zen, chi and tranquility! wonderfully serene place right in the middle of downtown Portland
  • Check out The Tao of Tea [tea house] while you're here.
  • Beautiful! A must-see if you're in Portland. The staff was also very nice/ friendly.
  • AAA gives a 50 cent discount off your ticket...just saying
  • Go directly to the tea-house for licorice tea! Don't fall asleep.
