JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts is making their way into Italy with the opening of their Venice property in March 2015. Set on a lagoon location within the island, the hotel offers views of St Mark’s Square and La Serenissima and was created in collaboration with award-winning Italian architect firm Matteo Thun & Partners.
JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa will have 266 rooms inside the delicately-refurbished historic building with minimalistic décor, sleek lines and neutral tones. Some suites will include their own private pools. Paying homage to its heritage and location, public areas are decorated with locally made bricks, glass and tiles reflective of the region’s artisanal talent and will showcase elements of the region.
Set over 16 acres, the hotel will have a number of outdoor areas and gardens boasting fruit trees, olive groves and cultivated plots that will be used to provide fresh ingredients for the resort's four restaurants and five bars. Cucina will serve breakfast fare on the ground floor while Sagra Rooftop restaurant views out onto the park and lagoon below as guests enjoy dishes inspired by Italy.
There will also be a Mediterranean cooking school and wine academy on the grounds as well as a function space inside an old church. Making sure it caters to all its guests, the property also includes a kid’s club and family pool.
Being operated by GOCO Hospitality, the over 5,700-square-foot spa will be the largest in Venice and will offer beauty products from brands such as QMS Medicosmetics and Amala. Along with an indoor and outdoor aquatonic pool (filled with seawater), the club will also feature a hammam, health club, eight treatment rooms and a luxury spa suite.
The hotel is currently accepting reservations for March 2015 and beyond; guestrooms begin at around USD $615 a night, breakfast included.
