When Oprah went truffle hunting in Italy last month she made headlines because—well, she's Oprah— but also because Italy is known for some of the most amazing truffles in the world. To celebrate the area's famous white truffles, the National White Truffle Festival of San Miniato National White Truffle Festival of San Miniato is put on every November in Tuscany, just about a three hour drive from Milan. Now in its 44th year, the event attracts attendees from all over the globe for three weeks of culinary delight. In addition to the world-famous white truffles of San Miniato, there are truffle oils, salts and sauces, and the event also features other local specialties like wine, meats, cheeses, chocolate, breads, olive oil, honey, preserves and cakes. A prize is also given out to the largest truffle and oldest truffle hunter.
