Tips

  • Thought youd want to know: Intelligentsia has been nominated for Best Local Coffee Roaster in Time Out Chicagos 2011 Eat Out Awards. Vote now!
  • Chicago is a surprisingly great coffee town, and this is one of the best local options.
  • Low-key Intelligentsia is one of the most respected roasters in America and now has five cafes around the country.
  • Coffee to consume on premises is similarly priced to Starbucks and miles better. You can't really go wrong with anything there. Bagged coffee is expensive, but it's fair trade and absolutely worth it.
  • Watch out for hipsters
  • This place is very cool. Worth deviating from Starbucks.
  • One of the best Macchiatos I've ever had.
  • Buy a pound of coffee, get a free small cup!
  • The Pour Over prepared on the chemex is the ultimate hip move, says local source. It fired me up.
  • Iced chai is AMAZING!! Perfect mix between sweet and spicy. Yum!
  • The Chai is better than in India itself.
  • If the line is super long in the morning, go down the stairs in the building next door and grab your coffee in the pedway. Voila, no line.
  • Ask the barista about the clover offering of the day. It costs a bit more but I've never had anything less than a stellar cup of coffee.
  • Awesome place, similar to Dogwood Coffee in Minnesota.
  • A total hipster hangout but excellent coffee. Well worth the wait for fantastic coffee. Just ignore the indignant stares from some of the staff.
  • If you only care for exceptional coffee, this is the place.
  • I'm in Intelligentsia for the first time, and I'm grabbing a cup og hot tea for my sore throat. Nice little spot here, I'll have to comeback, soon.
  • Pounds of beans at $2 off on Tuesdays
  • Grab any coffee and drink it black. Ceramic, not paper.
  • I have traveled a lot, and I have to say this is probably one of the best coffee spots I've visited in the US. Try the unique #Chemex With success comes popularity, so be prepared to wait.
