Il Posto means, “The Place” in Italian, and chef and owner Andrea Frizzi has largely backed up his contention that his breezy spot in City Park West is hot ― it’s routinely mentioned as one of the city’s best Italian restaurants for years now. Frizzi, originally from Milan, imports many Italian ingredients, incorporating them into a seasonal menu that changes on the chalkboard each day — “Cooking in the present,” he calls it. “It can be a rainy day, sunny and dry, or windy, or snowing — we as people react differently with the weather, so too with food.” Ah, Italians… poetry. And he may be right, but most don’t react differently to Frizzi’s food, especially his risotto, so don’t miss it.

  • You won't regret the risotto. It's made entirely to order.
  • New specials everyday and they just keep getting better! Great atmosphere.
  • Go for the tasting menu, sure it's six courses, but you can do it.
  • Try the Tagliere appetizer! Amazing cheese and meats flown in from Italy
  • The food is great but the server Mercedes is even better. Request her.
  • What? Don't order wine? That's crazy talk. What are we? Philesteins?
  • Nice vegetarian options - both main dishes and appetizers. The gemelli with fire roasted tomato was excellent.
  • Great wine selection and food was good! One of my entrees was a little dry, but anything with pasta is superb.
  • The staff made my visit exceptional. I received detailed attention and learnt from both sommelier Mark and chef Wes and Melissa was warm and welcoming. The food was super but the staff made it!
  • This place has been good for all these years and still never misses a beat. It's hard to leave a tip because everything is so fab
  • Paul Reilly, chef of beast + bottle, eats here on his nights off. He loves the Tagliere.
  • Though no longer behind the burners, he stands guard in the busy corridor between open kitchen and tables, making sure that Il Posto lives up to its commitment of serving classic Italian cuisine.
  • The somm is so ridiculously hot he's like a caricature of a hot person - tall, cute, accent, well-managed facial hair, built... Yikes. Appealing to both boys and girls.
  • Dont order halibut cheeks. Tough and stringy
  • Food was creative and quite good, but not amazing. Love seasonal approach to menu. Try the peach dessert. Great service!
  • I can't recommend the tuna enough! Of course, their menu changes daily, but in our party of five, the tuna was the winner out of all the dishes!
  • Try the Tuna -
  • Try the Calamari -
  • Try the Oysters -
  • Nice place an good ambiance, but way overpriced! $21 for risotto. Risotto is just rice for crying out loud! Menu changes daily, which is unique. But it's just too pricey
