  • 1 Teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon White vinegar

For the burgers

Shred lettuce, mince onion and finely chop 1/2 cup dill pickle slices for Special Sauce.  Divide hamburger into 8 equal portions.  Form in to very thin patties, about 1/4" thick.  Season with salt and pepper.

Heat a griddle or cast iron pan over medium heat.

Use one whole hamburger bun and one bottom from another bun.  Lightly butter and grill until toasted.

Top bottom halves of hamburger bun with about 1 Tbsp. of Special Sauce, lettuce, onion and dill pickle chips.  Fry hamburger patties until nicely browned and cook through, about 2 minutes per side.  Top bottom buns with hamburger patties and top with a slice of cheese.  Add an additional tablespoon of Special Sauce onto top part of bun.
