How To Throw A Smokin' 50th Birthday Party Slideshow

Spread it Out

Keeping with the cigar/cigar box theme, all the food was presented in real cigar boxes and on wooden boards, giving the party a masculine feel. The invitation called for an open house, so a generous buffet was laid of cheeses, charcuterie, small sandwiches, and fruit.

Invitations

This invitation was inspired by the man of honor's affection for a good cigar. It was printed on cherry wood veneer and included a recap of the number of minutes, hours, and days that make up 50 years. The invite was packed in hay and included a cigar and cigar matches in a Kraft paper box.

Keeping with the Theme

The cocktail table had nibbles presented in cigar boxes and mini flavored vodka bottles with brown and white striped straws for guests to sip.

Say it With a Napkin

Napkins reflected the words and colors of the invitation, directing guests to raise a glass, smoke a cigar, and toast.

Sweets Station

The dessert buffet was designed with all bite-sized items. Cookies, jelly beans, gummy bears, popcorn, and mini cakes let guests grab a sweet and mingle.

Oh, Nuts!

Old cigar boxes were used for food presentation. Dried fruit, mixed nuts, and pistachios were easily unveiled by sliding the box top open.

The Works

A dark cigar box was chosen to match the humidor and held cigar matches for guests to use.

Cigar Bar

Another old cigar box was used to hold cigar cutters.

Manly Meal

To keep the buffet strong and masculine, candles wrapped with leather cord were used for décor and nestled in a bed of cigar box hay.

Bubbly and Spirits

The bar was limited to prosecco and vodka drinks. While the bartender mixed vodka with colorful juices and mixers, guests could refill their glasses with bubbly prosecco and toast the birthday guy.

Mix it Up

The buffet was enhanced with sweet and salty accouterments, such as cornichons, guava paste, and almonds.

Thank You, Thank You

The celebration continued the next evening with a private dinner for family and close friends. Each guest received a Thank You Kraft paper box filled with cookies and candy, thanking them for joining the honoree for his birthday.
