Houston's Only Tiki Bar Soon To Open

It's about time Houston got the tiki treatment: Eater and Houstania magazine report that Houston's first tiki bar, Lei Low, will open this fall.

Eater shares that Lei Low is the project of Grand Prize partners Matt Loreman, Ryan Rouse and Brad Moore with Down House employees Elizabeth and Russell Thoede. "It'll be a destination spot for those Tiki freaks... and hopefully people will come to appreciate rum and rum culture," said Moore to Houstania. And of course, those tiki cocktails will be classic tiki cocktails as well as new ones from the Theodes (with hints of even a handmade coconut rum).

Lei Low will open "t in an otherwise nondescript strip center at North Main and 25th," Houstonia reports. The last tiki bar to exist in Houston, Hula Mama's, closed in November 2012.
